Frank Henderson Receives SEAMS Association’s Highest Award
Frank Henderson, president of Henderson Sewing Machine Co. Inc., Andalusia, Alabama., holds the Sarah Friedman Award, SEAMS’ highest honor, which the association presented to him Thursday night, October 22. He is flanked by SEAMS President Ron Roach and President of Contempora Fabrics and SEAMS Executive Director Will Duncan.
Henderson, a sewn products industry leader and visionary, has been an active member of SEAMS for many years. The award is named in honor of the former longtime director of SEAMS.
Henderson Sewing Machine was established more than 50 years ago by James F. Henderson as a supplier of products to the apparel market. His son Frank joined the company in 1976 after graduating from Auburn University with the goal of growing the company and continuing his father’s emphasis on customer service.

At that time, the Henderson Sewing Machine Co. had 10 vendor suppliers and 150 customers in Alabama. Today, the company has 30 employees and supplies industrial sewing machines, parts, and custom-manufactured automated sewing stations and devices to more than 70 different sewn products manufacturing sectors. The company has more than 6,000 customers in the U.S. and 34 other countries.
