Gerber Technology ideation 2021 Recap
In October, Gerber Technology hosted their annual ideation conference which was attended by 1,700 people from the fashion, furniture, sign & graphics, and technical textiles industries. For those of you who are not familiar with ideation, it’s Gerber’s annual conference where the industry meets to discuss the trends, challenges, and innovations shaping the future.
During this year’s hybrid event, Gerber hosted dedicated tracks for the fashion, furniture, technical textiles, and sign & graphics industries which featured top experts. Gerber also hosted their Annual Executive Forum which gathered decision-makers to discuss what’s going on within their industry and how technology can help accelerate. The fashion and sign & graphics tracks both featured roundtables where experts discussed current trends and the future of the industry.
Fashion Roundtable experts included Colleen Hau from Carhartt, Mike Todaro from Americas Apparel Producers Network, Matthew Wallace from DXM Inc., and Leonard Marano from Lectra. Sign & graphics Roundtable experts included Michael Maxwell from Mimaki USA, Inc., Jeff Cheatham from Fisher Textiles, Brad Walsh from 3A Composites, Mike Goldman from Catalyst, Jay Dorman from Gerber Technology, along with Stefan Pentchev from Engview Systems.
Gerber and Lectra also made several product announcements, including new AccuMark and YuniquePLM releases as well as interoperability between Gerber’s AccuMark and Lectra’s Modaris. The conference also helped Gerber’s audience discover many of Lectra’s solutions including Retviews, Kubix, Fashion OnDemand, and DesignConcept3D for the furniture industry.
“The Gerber product brand is here to say,” said Celine Choussey, Chief Product Officer at Lectra during her session.
Gerber also hosted their first-ever Pitch Competition during this year’s conference. Teams from the ACC Fashion Incubator, Arizona Fashion Source, FABRIC, and the Brooklyn Fashion Incubator developed collections using Gerber and Lectra solutions. Each team hosted a session during ideation and pitched their collection to a panel of judges composed of fashion experts. The competition had two winners: FRWL by Nicole Lee from the Brooklyn Fashion Incubator and Virago Lorica Segmentata Collection from FABRIC.
The winning teams walked in a Live Fashion Show at Gerber’s Innovation Center in New York City during their Customer Appreciation event.
ideation 2021 was made possible by 26 sponsors from across the industry.
“Favorite part was the Fashion RoundTable forum,” one participant said. “I took so many notes from those industry leaders and their knowledge! Awesome that they answered questions people were asking in the live time too.”
